I am an active person by nature, and one of the unadulterated joys of my life is to romp and play with dogs that come my way. However, they, like us, age or sustain injuries which eventually affect their physical abilities. Does this make them of less value? What about animals that are born with physical disabilities? Do they love less or are they less able to provide companionship? The answer to these questions is a resounding no. These animals, like their human counterparts, are able to overcome disabilities and limitations to an extent that is nothing short of extraordinary.
Sadie Dog is a heartwarming story of how a dog who developed special needs was still able to provide companionship for and love to its owner, Pam Hoffman. In fact, the relationship between Sadie and Pam was strengthened by the challenges that life presented to Sadie.
I believe that after reading the story you will understand how special needs pets have the same intrinsic value as any pet and know how important it is to share this story with children.

Pam Hoffman's Sadie Dog is a heartwarming biography of a beautiful cocker whose health required persistence in finding solutions to keep her comfortable and happy. The book is a fine example of how rewarding the love of a companion dog is and how important it is to meet the challenges and be a good pet guardian.

When I first saw Sadie, she had very bad allergies, making her skin itchy, red, and oily. Her back had also been causing her pain. It was a very rewarding experience for me to work with Sadie and Pam. Pam was so conscientious about giving Sadie the best possible life.
Through our team approach that extended over many years, we were able to give Sadie a good quality of life. This is a great book to honor Sadie's life. Sadie was such a joy to work with.

My thanks to Ms. Hoffman for her wonderful book, which helps children appreciate the compassion, comedy, and acceptance that our loving nonhuman friends teach us on a daily basis. This is an opportunity to help our next generation of adults learn that with the responsibility of pet companionship comes many chances to balance our lives in various ways.

We are excited to see a book like Sadie Dog that will help educate children about the responsibility of pet care, especially those special needs pets. It is our hope that this book will teach children that there is so much more to pet ownership than just feeding a pet. We anticipate that teaching children at a young age will help ensure forever pets who are loved and cared for, thereby decreasing the number of throwaway pets surrendered to shelters.
